Diakonie Katastrophenhilf, Bundesministerium furwirtschaftliche Zusammenabeit und Entwicklung
(DKHBMZ) Tharparkar project started in December, 2021. PVDP is working in partnership with
Community World Service-Asia also as a lead partner and this project is supported by Diakonie
Katastrophenhilf - DKH Germany.
Project Title: Strengthening the livelihoods and resilience of vulnerable agricultural communities in rural Sindh,
Project Duration: December, 2021 – November, 2023

Targeted Area: District Tharparkar
Project Goal: Climate affected vulnerable rural communities in two Union Councils of Sindh are more resilient to natural shocks in terms of their food security, livelihoods, and community organization.
Project Objectives
1. Rural, drought-affected, agriculturally dependent households in 15 communities located in districts Tharparkar improve their food security.
2. Rural, drought-affected, agriculturally dependent households in 15 communities located in districts Tharparkar improve their livelihoods.
3. 15 rural, drought-affected communities located in districts Tharparkar are better prepared to respond to environmental shocks and their impacts.
Geographical Area
The project is focused its intervention on Sindh Province, and specifically in Tharparkar district. Following the selection of the UCs to be targeted by the project, 15 communities are selected based on further consultation with local authorities and review of relevant secondary data. All targeted communities are selected from those in the rain-fed areas of Tharparkar, as these areas are the most vulnerable to natural hazards, especially drought.
